Welcome to Keith's personal web page

keithaus150.gifI have put this page together to show the sort of things you can do. You build the page using a standard "word-processor-like" interface with WYSIWIG (What you see is what you get) formatting so you don't need to know any html or other coding. On the other hand, if you do want to get in deeper you can view and edit the underlying html code as well.

I uploded this image from my hard drive then inserted it and edited the format so it is left aligned with 5 pixels of horizontal space each side - that way the text just wraps around it.

You can use your page to tell other people about yourself and your interests, to promote your own business or services to other left-handers around the world or for prettty much anything else you can think of. Don't forget you can also create your blog and make as many posts as you like on that - including using audio and video.

Headings

You can create you own headings

and sub-headings

in whatever, colour and size you like and you can write as much content as you like and use all sorts of styles, sizes, colours etc.

Links

You can take any piece of text and any image and easily turn it into a hyperlink so that it will show as blue and underlined and when it is clicked it will automatically open the web page you specified.  The links can either open in the same browser window or in a new window (usually better if you are pointing to a different web site as the viewer does not then lose your page - it will still be there under the new one)

Images

thumbsup.jpgYou can insert as many images as you like - either your own ones that are uploaded automatically or refer to other images on the web and you can resize them, align them left, right, middle, top, bottom and hyperlink them to other pages withn LHW or anywhere else on the web you like.

Here is a small image linked to the
Anything Left-handed web site (I also linked that bit of text as well!

Tables

You can use tables - with or without borders

This is an image I uploaded
lhtick.jpg

This is an image from one of my web sites (and I resizedthe dimensions in this page to make it smaller.

You can create hyperlinks from your text so people can click them to view other pages or you can do the same with images - click the Bart image to see. (I set both these links to open in a new browser window so you will not lose this page)

You can set the background colour behind your text to highlight things

  • Use Dot points
  • Like this
  1. Or numbered items
  2. Like this
  3. And this

Comments and access restrictions

You can allow members to comment on your web page and ask to be notified by email every time someone adds or modifies a comment. If you want, you can also restrict it so that only logged-in members of Left Hand World can see it, not guests.

Giving people your page address

Once you have designed your page, the system will give you a unique link (URL) for it that you can refer other people to, like ths

Search engines

The search engines, like Google, love our new and constantly changing content and quickly index new items created in Left Hand World so they can be found by other people on the Web. For example,
search for "Keith's example web page" (without the quotes) in Google worldwide
and you will find this web page indexed pretty near the top out of over 8 million result pages. If you include the quotation marks for an exact match, it is the top listing.

The same will happen for individual blog entries and even the comments on them - for example, if you search Google for the phrase "Bravo! I've often wanted to convert" you will see an individual comment on one of my Cool Links Blog entries indexed.

Even the captions for individual images you upload to your phot galleries get indexed, for example, search Google for the phrase "The word liar, or a face? What do you see first?" and you see a gallery page created by a Left Hand World member.

I do a lot of search engine marketing work and know that this is pretty impressive - it can take months (or forever) to get new wep sites and pages indexed by Google but content created on Left Hand World is getting spidered and given good rankings within days.  And that can only get better as the size and reputation of the site grows with members adding loads of new content every day.

What this means is that whetever content YOU add will quickly be seen not only by members but by web searchers all round the world!

NOTE - You can choose whether to make your content public or only available to registered members of Left Hand World,  A lot of the content in the site is for members only, e.g. forum posts, but your own web page, blog, galleries etc. can be made public.

Have fun designing your own web page!
